There is very little written about the Daimler Ferret, arguably the most popular ex-military vehicle for civilian enthusiasts. Pat Ware’s 1997 book is the most comprehensive. This excellent book, and other sources on information are listed on this page.
Neither Osprey Publishing, nor Tankograd Publishing offer anything on the Ferret, despite both publishing books (Staghound, Humber LRC, Humber Pig, Scorpion, Humvee, Jeeps; Warrior, Saxon, FV432 and variants ) on other vehicles in British army service.
Haynes Publishing are pre-eminent publishers of car manuals. They have published extensively on military vehicles and armour, including the Jeep, Humvee, Landrover, Rolls Royce armoured car, Kubelwagen/Schwimmwagen, Sherman, M1 Abrams, Tiger, Panzer, Churchill, Centurion, Chieftain and Challenger, latterly with the patronage of the Tank Museum.
I’ve written to Haynes and to The Tank Museum, but there are no plans to publish a Haynes owner’s manual on the Ferret. This webpage has been created to partly fill that gap. If you would buy a Haynes manual on the Ferret, possibly also including the Dingo and the Fox, I invite you to sign this petition here.
